چکیده

Studies on the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) content of normal nondividing plant and animal nuclei revealed that it is quite stable in interphase, showing little variation from cell to cell (4, 21). This is in sharp contrast to the wide varia tion and generally larger amounts of DNA found in tumor cells (1,17, 20,31) and normal cells dur ing periods of rapid growth (32). Preliminary ex periments utilizing endocervical strings containing methylcholanthrene resulted in the prompt ap pearance in vaginal smears of cells containing in creased amounts of nuclear DNA. The present study was undertaken to determine whether this was a specific response to the carcinogen or simply the result of increased cellular proliferation, and to compare these changes with DNA alterations in early and advanced cancer.

Soluble uric acid induces inflammation via TLR4/NLRP3 pathway in intestinal epithelial cells

Objective(s): Hyperuricemia is a risk for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, but the mechanism is ambiguous. Increased intestinal permeability is correlated with metabolic syndrome risk factors. Intestinal epithelial cells play a pivotal role in maintaining intestinal permeability. Uric acid is directly eliminated into intestinal lumen, however, the mechanism and e...

Effect of Matrigel on Function and Morphology of Human Endometrial Epithelial Cell in vitro

The importance of extra cellular matrix (ECM) in development and function of different cells has been reported but little is known about its role in human endometrial epithelial cells. The aim of the present study was to examine effects of artificial ECM (Matrigel) and progesterone on the function and morphology of human endometrial epithelial cells in vitro. Methods: Endometrial samples were ...

The increased susceptibility of epidermal cells to a carcinogen following a single prior treatment with croton oil and its correla tion with increaced DNA synthesis following croton oil was con firmed. The effect of croton oil on DNA synthesis was local rather than systemic, just as Pound found its effect on increased susceptibility to a carcinogento belocalratherthan systemic. The effect of pr...

Cytotoxic Effect of Boswellia Serrata Hydroalcholic Extract on Human Cervical Carcinoma Epithelial Cell Line

Abstract Background and Objective: Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women. Boswellia serrata is a medicinal herb with anticancer, antibacterial, antiulcer, antifungal properties. Since the antitumor effect of this medicine has not been studied on cancer cell lines, we aimed to investigate the antitumor effect of Boswellia serrata on cervical cancer cell lines. Material ...

Effects of Different Oil Sources on Performance and Fatty Acid Profile of Breast and Thigh Muscles in Broilers

This experiment was conducted to determine the effect of different vegetable oil types on broiler performance, carcass characteristics and fatty acid profile of breast and thigh meat. For it, a total number of 300 day-old cobb-500 broiler chickens were housed in floor pens for 42 days in a completely randomized design, consisted of 5 treatments (soy, flaxseed, canola, corn and sunflower), with ...
